The Island Experience
Step onto Ono island and indulge in the simple pleasures of island life. Time has no meaning here and the place is yours to spend as you wish. Ono island Fiji is obviously the ideal place for anglers but also caters to wives, partners and friends looking to discover this tropical paradise!
You’ll have access to the fish-rich waters of the Great Astrolabe Reef and lagoon which surrounds Ono Island and its neighbouring islands offering stunning snorkelling and inshore fishing. We can take you for an island picnic and to laze on pristine sandy beaches. Experience the true Fiji and be welcomed into the local village, meeting the children is always a highlight. A sunset boat cruise will take you to view the sea birds returning back to Bird Island to nest.
Back at the resort, all meals are prepared by the resort chef using the best ingredients from the resorts own organic garden, fresh seafood and selected meats, plus you’ll experience a traditional Fijian lovo, cooked in an earth oven.

On The Water
Fish the edges of the Great Astrolabe Reef and in the lagoon, using lures to catch a range of fish including coral trout, mackeral, bluefin trevally, bass, wahoo, emperor etc’. Plenty of powerful GT’s inhabit these waters, and their eagerness to snatch a lure off the surface makes for fight to remember! The wide variety of areas to fish, from endless shallow coral lagoons to isolated atolls barely breaking the surface of the water, means that anglers have a chance to target a whole range of species’ off the surface, including GT’s, red bass, coral trout, yellowfin tuna, spanish mackerel, mahi mahi and wahoo.
If jigging is your thing then this trip also offers you the opportunity to fish a range of underwater ridges and channels for a variety of species including huge dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, coral trout and puka puka to name just a few.

Your Lodging
Oneta Resort With exquisite attention to detail, Oneta Resort is a hidden gem with only a few bures nestled in lush gardens, it’s your own private retreat in the South Pacific. Oneta offers well appointed queen bures nestled in a pristine, tropical environment. Each has it’s own ensuite and private outdoor hot water shower. Relax in a hammock or on a sunbed over looking the water, read a book from our library or head out on a kayak for a paddle.
Excellent meals are prepared by the resort’s chef, using fresh seafood and local ingredients. Spend the evening at Oneta enjoying a few beers, or soothe aching muscles after fishing with the in house massage service. Resort owner Piero is your host for the week, many people arrive as guests for a few days only and leave already planning a return holiday. At Oneta you will discover a resort as attractive as the fishing and lagoon that surrounds it.
Your Vessel & Guide
Fish aboard our 28 foot centre console, which offers an excellent fishing platform for up to 4 anglers. A canopy shields anglers from the sun whilst jigging or taking a break from casting. This boat is the perfect platform for casting poppers around reef passages and surf breaks, and your skipper & crew know these waters intimately.
Getting There
Flights from Nadi to Kadavu Island run daily with Pacific Sun, and take approximately 40 minutes. Upon your arrival into Kadavu Airport, you will be met by an Ocean Blue representative and transferred to Oneta Island Resort by boat, a scenic trip through the lagoon stopping only to cast into schools of yellowfin tuna and mahi mahi that can often be spotted on the way to Ono Island.
