The Fishing Trip
For the guys wanting to push boundaries and new frontiers, this is a unique experience to islands of Vanuatu very few people see, let alone fish.
Mixing living and fishing space isn’t an issue anymore, anglers can now stay out longer, fish harder and enjoy every minute of the trip. With the 50ft vessel ‘Cooloola’ and 32ft Edgewater centre console at your disposal, anglers now have a sportfishing experience capable of maximising Vanuatu’s true potential.
On this expedition you’ll spend your days fishing the remote central island group, offering a variety of seascapes including pristine reef systems, steep island cliff faces and vast underwater sea mounts for Vanuatu’s infamous dogtooth tuna, GT’s, pelagics and other sportfishing targets. Your playground & base for the adventure are the pristine waters around Malekula, Maskelyn’s, De Chauliac Bank, Epi and more.
The 32ft sportfishing vessel is the perfect platform to hit the deep reefs and seamounts for some serious jigging for big dogtooth tuna or ideal for casting poppers to big GT’s holding tight into bommies and steep cliff face washes.
Each day you will have the opportunity to fish area’s offering spectacular fishing and breathtaking scenery. Options include the lee of active volcanoes for dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna and sailfish. The atolls of the Maskelyne Islands will provide you with wahoo action, massive coral trout, giant trevally and red bass. The big dogtooth tuna fishery in these islands is very exciting. Targeted with good results on topwater poppers & jigs by our expert team.
The Experience
This Vanuatu adventure offer greater flexibility by having a variety of locations to access from the mothership base, staying in a spectacular secluded anchorage.
After an enjoyable days fishing you will return & rejoin the mothership. Enjoy a swim, snorkel or venture on shore and experience local village life. Enjoy a quiet beer before dinner or stir up a few big GT’s from anchorage. Accommodation is on board the mothership each evening. Your Vessel & Guide
Fish on board a superb 32ft Edgewater centre console offering the ultimate fishing platform ideal for groups of up to 5 anglers jigging, popper casting or gamefishing.
You will be hosted by renowned sportfishing skipper Andrea Traverso who’s knowledge of the outer Vanuatu islands is second to none.
A range of sport & game tackle is provided for clients use onboard and we can advise tackle requirements for anglers bringing their own.
This purpose built 50ft Mothership was refitted in 2010 by skipper Dan Eagan and offers space, comfort and genuine hospitality onboard.
Guests stay onboard in comfort, anglers sleep in single beds in 2 separate cabins, both with own ensuite. We can do 5 anglers at a stretch. The large rear deck space is fully sheltered and is the perfect place to relax with a beer after another big days fishing.
Getting There
Vanuatu is a short 3.5 hour flight from Sydney, 2.5 hour flight from Brisbane and 3 hour flight from Auckland. Air Vanuatu, Pacific Blue and Air New Zealand offer daily flights to Port Vila. Then you’ll catch a private charter to Maseklyn’s to begin your adventure, stepping straight onboard the Cooloola which will be your base for the week.
