We recently had the pleasure in hosting Marc Petters, Laurence Bailey, Shaun Parkes and Edward BondFour to Trees and Fishes for a 4 nights, 3 days boys fishing adventure. These four work colleagues from Hong Kong and Singapore were paired up with Ocean Blue guide Eric Festa who despite some of them being novice anglers got a speedy introduction to what Bluewater fishing was all about in Vanuatu.
Day one saw Marc land a 50kg+ Golden fin and bumped into a pod of humpbacks which was something special for them all to experience. Day two and on two separate occasions saw anglers experience explosive Mahi Mahi and smaller Yellowfin free jumping action on topwater with the fish being chased by bigger fish who in turn were being chased by even bigger fish. Day Three saw a trip down South to fish one of our seamounts chasing Wahoo and Doggies. With Eric & Tom working hard to land anglers their targeted species the day saw 15 Wahoo landed ranging from 12-25kg along with 10 other species on board. All that was left to catch was a Doggie for Marc and a Yellowfin for Sean.
Despite so many attempts on doggies including a hook up of over 50kg which lasted for as long as 3 minutes, saw Marc being left battered and bruised. Upon the last cast call from Eric saw Sean land his last wish, a 15kg yellowfin. “If you want a perfect introduction to fishing, or if you are experienced and are after that world beating, Marlin, Tuna, Dogooth or GT. This is the place period”, By Laurence Bailey.
