When can I go back?

This was my third trip with Ocean Blue (my fourth is booked for September 2013!), and what a memorable trip it was. First class fishing, excellent climate, outstanding crew, excellent meals, calm seas and lots and lots of BIG fish. Only one problem, I thought holidays were supposed to be relaxing? Every part of my body ached! I've done a LOT of fishing in and out of Australia, and nothing has come close to rivaling the week we had in Vanuatu. When can I go back? Special place! Thank you Ocean Blue!

First Class All Round!

Being a seasoned traveller in search of a great destination for my fishing passion, I made a visit to Vanuatu with my mates and a film crew for some fishing shooting. We took up a fishing trip ran by Ocean Blue out of Trees and Fishes Private Retreat and stayed there during our 6 days trip. This little resort packed nothing but elegance. The little villas were comfortable and well equipped, surroundings were natural, clean and a spectacular seafront overlooking the bay was simply awesome. The food menu was carefully done up, different dishes with each meal makes every meal time something to look forward to. Service staff were great in responding to our needs and yet held great initiative to give guest their privacy. Wifi in the rustic setting just made it wholesome and pleasant for those who loves to stay connected. Last but not least, the fishing experience here was out of the world. My next visit back to Trees and Fishes Private Retreat will definitly be with my family (even though they don't fish) and that wont be long from now.

Trees and Fishes – all you expect and more!

We arrived in Vanuatu with Cyclones about to hit Fiji, Australia and one that could have come our way as well...expecting poor weather and not so much fishing, we packed a few "bored" games in case. Our arrival and first impression of Trees and Fishes was that it definately was not a fishing shack on the beach, it had more class than the 4 fishos that were about to storm its walls. Staff were excellent from the get go, everything just flowed and offered us a kick back and relax vibe, always nice after a long year at work. The food was sensational, every meal a challenge to finish but so good that you felt you just needed that one extra bite, when done the next course would arrive! The Fishing....well the fishing.... dont think there are to many places in the world you can sight cast to Dogtooth Tuna, and not small ones either! We had a jigging session that saw us go drop for drop from 9am till we said lines up at 15h00 before a GT afrernoon session...yes we didnt land them all and yes a few met the tax man on the way up but we punished our gear with the biggest round 50kilo and average fish round the 8kilo mark...certainly my best experience dogtooth fishing. All that and it was day 1! we did the same for 6 straight days, Andrea the skipper was great, he worked hard to get us good fish, from chasing Doggies to GT we could not fault his constant ability to put us on fish with lures that worked! I have travelled to many far off places in search of good fishing, this was the best yet. The accomodation and food compliments the fishing, the 32 foot edgewater is in its own class, the hospitality second to none I felt all this took our Trip from being the usual charter to a proffesional sports fishing adventure, worthy of top fishos. Thanks guys, our team are already plotting our next assault....! We look forward to getting back to the shores and hospitality of Vanuatu! PS i have ticked that the "pool" was excellent, although no pool the swimming in crystal clear water right in front of your cabin is far better than any pool!

Absolutely Superb

I didn't think I could top my first trip to Vanuatu, as I experienced some great fishing and culture all while celebrating my wedding anniversary. I would have preferred more fishing, but hey it was still a break from the every day. Not long ago I revisited the big island, but this time it was all about the fishing. Trees and Fishes retreat in Port Havannah became my home for the week and it was nothing short of amazing. The staff, food, accommodation and all round service I found was second to none, making it the perfect retreat to come back to after battling huge fish all day out on Ocean Blue's Azzurra. The cabins were extremely comfortable and included everything you need to feel at home. Angele's superb local cuisine was one of the many highlights at Trees and Fishes, apart from the fishing, fresh sashimi and cold beers! I would highly recommend Trees and Fishes as your first port of call when booking your next fishing adventure to Vanuatu.

Sensational Trip

Both Myself and fishing partner Craig had a sensational week with Tree's and Fishes resort. The accommodation was excellent, food good and I think its very fair to say the Staff were incredibly friendly and willing to do whatever it took to ensure a comfortable stay. The highlights of our trip were a 40kg GT for myself and a 35kg Dogtooth Tuna to Craig. Other fish we encountered we some smaller GT's around the 18kg Mark,Red Bass,Bluefin Trevally,Barracuda,Wahoo and the ever present sharks. After doing many a fishing trips over to Fiji and numerous trips out to the Coral Sea I found Trees and Fishes to be incredible Value and we are looking at heading back in November 2013.
