Fiji\u2019s 333 islands and atolls are the epitome of a South Pacific paradise, with sunshine, palm-lined beaches and sparkling lagoons fringed with coral reefs. Fiji\u2019s islands are mainly volcanic, with some smaller coral or limestone atolls. Visitors to the larger islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu will experience the beauty of Fiji\u2019s rugged interior with its rivers, rainforests waterfalls and wildlife. The Coral Coast is well known for its resorts and sandy beaches, while the rugged southern islands of Kadavu and Ono offer the Great Astrolabe Reef with superb fishing and diving. Here visitors will find a more traditional Fiji, with an unhurried pace of life, friendly Fijian hospitality and rich culture.<\/p>\n

Are Visa\u2019s Required?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Australian citizens\/passport holders do not require a visa for a short stay in Fiji. Make sure your passport has at least six months validity, and carry a copy of a recent passport photo with you in case you need a replacement passport while overseas.<\/p>\n

Paying Locally \u2013 ATM\u2019s\/Credit Card Facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

ATM access is available throughout Fiji. Money change is available at Nadi airport; Westpac and ANZ banks are located in Suva. Bank hours are 9:30am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday. Cash is required at Ono Island for bar tab, massages, tips (prices are similar to AUD), there are no cash ATM\u2019s or credit card facilities at Oneta resort, please bring Fiji $. Fiji\u2019s Coral Coast has credit facilities and ATM\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Fish Handling Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to the remoteness of this location, logistics involved and release policy for sustainable fishing, it is not possible to take fish out of Fiji. Keeping select fish for eating throughout the trip is at your skipper\u2019s discretion. The seafood you catch makes up a large component of your meals on the island.<\/p>\n

Alcohol\/Duty Free Limits<\/strong><\/p>\n

The duty free limit for taking alcohol into Fiji is; 2.25 L of spirits, or 4.5L of wine. Bar facilities are available at most resorts and hotels on the Coral Coast. Ono Island has bar facilities with a bar tab system. Bar tab is to be paid in Fiji dollars as cash, no credit card facilities are available.<\/p>\n

Tipping\/Gratuities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tipping is not mandatory in Fiji, but tends to be a common practice on conclusion of a charter; if you wish to pass the hat around between the group, AUD $50 per days fishing (per boat) is a rough guide. Lures, sunglasses and cool t-shirts are also a hit with crews. Please note, all tipping to skippers, deck hands, crew or other service providers is entirely up to the individuals\u2019 discretion.<\/p>\n

Electricity\/Adaptors<\/strong><\/p>\n

Electricity\/power outlets in accommodation on the Coral Coast are the same as Australia. Power sockets on Ono Island use the US plug. An adaptor will be required for charging cameras, mobile phones, etc, on Ono Island.<\/p>\n

Getting There<\/strong><\/p>\n

International flights direct into Nadi from all major Australian cities, NZ, Asia and USA (LAX). Flights to Kadavu run once per day, and many schedules require an overnight stay and domestic flight the next day. Accommodation and airport transfers will be pre-arranged for the overnight stay in Nadi.<\/p>\n

Rod Tubes\/Local Luggage Limitations<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Air Pacific \/ Pacific Sun domestic aircraft service to Ono Island takes rod tubes under the seats & limited check in cargo capacity. Air Pacific International ticket holders receive higher Domestic weight allowance if booked on the same ticket. Please check ticketing for luggage policy, we recommend packing tight and arriving early for check in.<\/p>\n
