Anthony established Ocean Blue in 1993 and operated Vanuatu’s first professional charter company for 13 years. Anthony’s knowledge and expertise of the South Pacific islands and the regions angling hotspots has assisted hundreds of anglers get the most out of their fishing adventures. Anthony has been instrumental in our expansion into new and exciting destinations. Anthony runs the Ocean Blue office in Sydney, Australia.
David Noble
David heads up enquiries and sales in Ocean Blue’s Sydney office. He’s here to make sure you get exactly the right adventure you are after. With his extensive fishing and travel experience, David understands what’s involved in planning your next adventure and ensures that all aspects of your customized Ocean Blue fishing adventure are fulfilled. He can provide you with all the information on the best options for sport or gamefishing in any of our destinations throughout the South Pacific and Malaysia, be it a single day charter, week-long group trip or corporate tournament.
Angele Pisano
Angele looks after the Ocean Blue marketing and communications as well as assisting David in delivering some amazing product(s) and destination(s) throughout the South Pacific. So make sure you send her your best photos to add to our ever growing trip report and photo galleries for everyone to enjoy.
Rob Chang
Rob operates the Ocean Blue office in Singapore, dealing directly with our anglers enquiring from all over Asia. With his fluency in a number of languages, first-hand experience and extensive knowledge of all things sport fishing, Rob is able to help plan and organise every aspect of your trip of a lifetime to any of our destinations. When he’s not sending anglers overseas, Rob acts as guide and translator on our sailfish adventures in Kuala Rompin, Malaysia.
Andrea Traverso
Born and raised in Vanuatu, skipper Andrea Traverso’s bio speaks volumes for his passion for all styles of fishing. As a teenager he was a deckhand and tournament fisherman in Vanuatu and by the age of 15 he’d upgraded to owning his third boat. Andrea has pioneered the Vanuatu popping and jigging scene, successfully targeting dogtooth and GT’s, two of his favourite species. He has refined his techniques covering heavy tackle, saltwater fly, light tackle, live baiting, tag & release etc by fishing Vanuatu islands remote and productive waters. Andrea’s European background and cultural influences means he fluently speaks English, French, Italian and Bislama/Pidgin, very handy for adventures to remote islands and villages! He’s also made time along the way to fit in a degree in Marine Biology to further increase his knowledge of the ocean.
Juannick Laurent
Born and raised in Vanuatu, skipper Juannick Laurent was one of the first deckhand to join the Ocean Blue team in 1996 and be trained by Vanuatu’s first professional charter operator, Remy Frouin. Juannick went on to owning his own boat to skippering Ratua a 34ft Deep V boat and has mastered the technique for big game fishing throughout Vanuatu. Juannick is fluent in English, French and Bislama/Pidgin.
Etienne Picquel
An accomplished tournament angler in Europe, ‘Super Guide’ Etienne now spends his time chasing New Caledonia’s monster GTs! As a guide, Etienne is dedicated to looking after his anglers and his enthusiasm, knowledge and hospitality is well received by all anglers. Working closely with his local crew and communities, he and his team are passionate about their unique and extensive fishery, having developed the first GT tagging program in New Cal. His 25ft Centre Console has been purpose–built for the region’s waters, being both maneuverable enough to navigate through shallow inshore lagoons, and stable enough to jig from in the bluewater channels beyond the reef’s edge. A key tackle developer for the Illex range of rods, Etienne can also provide the best gear for anglers who are unable to bring their own.
Olivier Quach
Born and raised in New Caledonia, Olivier is an experienced skipper and has fished for just about every tropical species imaginable. Olivier is always happy to share his extensive knowledge onboard and a few stories over a drink at the end of the day. His 49ft Gamefisher and 28ft Luhrs Express are based in Noumea and are available for day charters from the capital.
Mark Armistead
Mark Armistead is head of operations in New Zealand, where he is based in Tauranga on the North Islands picturesque Bay of Plenty. Mark has an excellent and diverse fishery available to him and he know’s how to get the most out of it. He’s regarded as the pioneer of the NZ kingfish on topwater scene, hosting fishing tackle companies such as Carpenter (Japan), Orion (France) and Angel lures (Australia) assisting them develop kingfish (hiramasa) specific gear. Jigging, light tackle, big game and salt water fly round off his onboard resume, while talking atfishing seminars & writing for NZ and Australian fishing mags keeps him occupied when not out on the water.
Piero Piva
Piero is the owner of Oneta Resort and he has created a secluded base exclusively for groups of anglers and divers visiting Ono Island. His goal is to provide guests with a unique experience, with excellent attention to detail reflected throughout the resort. Anglers are impressed to find the land-based experience as good as the one offshore, and return at the end of a big day to enjoy great cuisine, warm and friendly staff, comfortable accommodation and an optional massage service. Piero runs a 28ft centre console as well as an 8 metre inshore boat. A gun angler, he takes care of the skippering duties along with his expert local crew.
