This adventure is suited to anglers specifically targeting billfish. The deep drop off located just off our Trees and Fishes Lodge, offers some of the best big game fishing for blue marlin on the planet. Vanuatu’s shoreline drops off steeply due to its volcanic geography, providing incredibly deep waters close to shore – the perfect environment for calm water blue marlin game fishing! We have also deployed a number of our own FAD’s which aggregate the bait attracting these big fish. You will also encounter the striped and black marlin as well. For those anglers who’d rather fish inshore sailfish are prevalent during winter and spring.
Fish aboard a 34ft Black Watch game fisher, ideal vessel for anglers specifically targeting Vanuatu’s famous blue marlin. Captain Charles Wheeler is one of the best marlin skippers around with 5 world records under his belt along with over 40 Vanuatu records and he is always ready to get anglers onto that next big blue.

During this adventure blue marlin is the main target. The locally known canyon named the marlin highway is only a 20 minute run from the lodge. Large blue marlin scout for bait along this drop. Fish encountered are generally anywhere from 50kg to 200kg but be rest assured we have managed 1000lb blue marlin here. Smaller blue marlin and sailfish forage inshore and can sometimes be seen free jumping off the lodge within the harbour. Trolling lures, switch and live baiting are the general techniques deployed depending on the fishing situation. At the end of each fishing day end head back to the lodge at Trees and Fishes and down a few drinks at the bar.
